Pancake history has been made as staff from Food Network UK batter-ed a new World Record for the highest stack of pancakes.

Staff from the entertainment food TV channel spent the weekend cooking, flipping and carefully stacking 725 pancakes into an impressive 32 inch high tower to celebrate Pancake Day a little bit differently than normal.

The impressive pancake tower took the team 13 hours and required 253 eggs,11 lbs of flour and over 26 pints of milk to create.

Nick Thorogood, Managing Director of Food Network UK said; “One of the greatest aspects of British Food is its tradition and the celebration of events such as Pancake Day. We wanted to celebrate this year’s Pancake Day with something a little different and what better way than to create a giant stack of pancakes! Needless to say the team at the Food Network UK headquarters are going to have their fill by the end of the day!”

Other pancake based feats in the past include the highest pancake flip (9.17 metres) at the Palace Theatre in New York in 2010, the largest pancake (15m long) set in Rochdale in 1994 and the most number of pancakes eaten in 1hour by an individual (855) in 2006.

Tune into Food Network UK (Sky 262/263) on Shrove Tuesday to see how the likes of Nigella Lawson and Paula Deen achieve the perfect pancake. Alternatively go to to check out our pancake day menu.
